Look out, Jose!
With Chicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu approaching the batter's box in the bottom of the first inning of Wednesday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays, umpire Erich Bacchus absently tossed Yoan Moncada's bat away from home plate.
However, Bacchus didn't see Abreu, and the bat smacked the slugger in the leg.
Abreu stayed in the game despite being down on the ground holding his left leg for an extended period of time.
Bacchus was clearing the home plate area for baserunner Jake Lamb, who was heading home on the play. Abreu appeared to be getting in position to signal to Lamb to enter a slide, creating a perfect storm for the accidental collision to occur.
