The Oakland Athletics recently landed in some hot water after photos of food served to players in their minor-league affiliations went viral on Tuesday.

The photos, which sparked references to the food allegedly served to guests of the infamous Fyre Festival, were posted on the Advocates for Minor Leaguers Twitter account.

Athletics president Dave Kaval replied to the tweet of the photos, calling what he saw "totally unacceptable."

Kaval offered an apology to the players, staff, and coaches, adding that the club terminated the contract of the third-party vendor responsible for supplying the food several weeks ago.

"I appreciate Mr. Kaval's prompt acknowledgment that these meals are unacceptable and his promise to do better going forward," Advocates for Minor Leaguers executive director Harry Marino said in a statement, according to ESPN's Alden Gonzalez.

"Unfortunately, this is far from an isolated incident in minor-league baseball. Each and every day, I hear directly from players about the myriad ways in which they are being mistreated. While players are too scared to speak publicly for fear of retaliation, their stories need to be heard.

"I would welcome the opportunity to work collaboratively with Mr. Kaval or any other MLB representative who would like to hear these stories and work together to better the game of baseball for players at all levels."

Advocates for Minor Leaguers is a "coalition of current and former players, wives and partners, families and fans rallying behind a common mission: Providing a voice for minor-league players and improving working conditions," according to their website.
