Dansby Swanson was upset after Atlanta Braves fans shouted expletives and threw bottles on the field following a controversial ninth-inning play against the Philadelphia Phillies during Sunday's game.

Spectators at Truist Park were angry when the Phillies recorded the eventual game-winning run after Alec Bohm scored on a sacrifice fly despite appearing to miss home plate on the slide. The call on the field was upheld after a video review.

"I don't think people realize that we have families here. There are kids here and sitting in the front row, and you've got bottles whizzing by their heads," Swanson said postgame, according to James Wagner of The New York Times. "Just endangering kids that may not be able to protect themselves is downright embarrassing and should never happen again.

"That's honestly one of the real reasons why I wanted to come in here and say that because it needed to be said. It just can't happen, and it never needs to happen again."

Swanson also acknowledged that umpires don't have the easiest jobs.

"I don't think we understand or give umpires enough credit really for how much they have to go through, too, in a season. Because they're away from their families, they are obviously putting their best (effort)," Swanson added. "They travel as much as we do, late hours, the quarantine - all of that stuff, right?

"It's just tough when you can go to slow motion and everything, and it still doesn't work in your favor, especially where it kind of felt like the game got taken out of our hands a little in that situation."
