The New York Yankees traded infielder Thairo Estrada to the San Francisco Giants on Sunday in exchange for cash considerations.
The Yankees designated Estrada for assignment on April 6 to clear a 40-man roster spot for Rougned Odor.
The 25-year-old appeared in 61 games for New York over the past two seasons, hitting .214/.267/.348 with four home runs and 15 RBIs. He also stole five bases and struck out 34 times.
Estrada is a versatile defender, playing second and third base, shortstop, and the outfield throughout his career.
The Giants optioned Estrada to the team's alternate training site and placed outfielder Jaylin Davis on the 60-day injured list with left knee patella tendinitis.
