Los Angeles Angels outfielder Dexter Fowler has a torn ACL in his left knee, the club announced Sunday.
Fowler will undergo surgery and is expected to miss six-to-nine months.
The Angels placed Fowler on the injured list after the 14-year veteran was carted off the field Friday in a game against the Toronto Blue Jays. The ailment was initially diagnosed as a sprained knee.
Los Angeles acquired Fowler during the offseason in a trade with the St. Louis Cardinals. The 35-year-old has suited up in 1,460 games in the majors, including an All-Star appearance in 2016 while playing for the Chicago Cubs.
