The Philadelphia Phillies have made a massive offer to catcher J.T. Realmuto and are trying to close the deal, reports MLB Network's Jon Heyman.

Philadelphia has offered Realmuto a contract worth about $110 million, Heyman adds. The deal is expected to be for five years.

Realmuto has been connected to the Phillies for much of the offseason, and he met with Philadelphia's president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski over Christmas.

The two-time All-Star has performed well for the club over the past two campaigns, hitting .273/.333/.492 with 36 home runs, 42 doubles, and 115 RBIs in 192 games.

Realmuto is also solid defensively. He's thrown out 43% of base-stealers since 2019, and his 11 defensive runs saved rank second among catchers during that same time frame, according to FanGraphs.

The Atlanta Braves are also still in the mix for him, but they would prefer a short-term deal, according to Heyman.

Along with the Phillies and Braves, the Toronto Blue Jays and Washington Nationals have shown interest in Realmuto at various points throughout the offseason.
