The Los Angeles Dodgers are still optimistic they can re-sign third baseman Justin Turner, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, but it might have to be on the team's terms.

Turner is searching for what might be his final contract, but Los Angeles prefers a two-year pact. The former All-Star has four possible options - including the Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays - and wants to play for a contender, Heyman adds.

Earlier in the winter, the 36-year-old was reportedly maintaining he was looking for a four-year deal, which would take him through his age-39 season.

The 12-year veteran is coming off another productive campaign, hitting .307/.400/.460 with four homers in 42 games and helping L.A. to its first World Series championship since 1988.

A recent report said the Dodgers were considering free-agent shortstop Marcus Semien in the event Turner signed elsewhere. Semien, 30, spent the last six seasons with the Oakland Athletics before becoming eligible for free agency this winter.

L.A. currently has players on the roster capable of playing third base, including Edwin Rios, Max Muncy, Chris Taylor, and Matt Beaty.
