The Washington Nationals placed right-hander Stephen Strasburg on the injured list with carpal tunnel neuritis, the team announced Saturday.

Strasburg has been dealing with a nerve issue in his throwing hand. It caused him to be scratched from one start and removed after throwing 16 pitches Friday night against the Baltimore Orioles.

The 2019 World Series MVP has been limited to five innings so far this season. He's allowed six runs (10.80 ERA) on eight hits and a walk while striking out a pair.

This is Strasburg's first trip to the injured list since 2018. There is no timetable for his return.

Right-hander Ryne Harper was recalled in a corresponding move.
