The New York Yankees placed Giancarlo Stanton on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain, the club announced Sunday.

Stanton will get an MRI on his hamstring on Monday in New York, reports David Lennon of Newsday.

Mike Ford pinch hit for Stanton in the sixth inning during the second game of the team's doubleheader against the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday. Stanton was ultimately diagnosed with a tight left hamstring, according to Brendan Kuty of NJ.com.

Stanton, 30, is hitting .293/.453/.585 with three homers this season, including a dinger hit during the first game of Saturday's twin bill.

The slugger missed a substantial amount of time during the 2019 season due to a right knee sprain.

New York called up infielder Thairo Estrada to take Stanton's spot on the major-league roster.
