Report: Dodgers agree to minor-league deal with former All-Star AJ Ramos

The Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to a minor-league contract with former All-Star reliever AJ Ramos, who will be added to their 60-man player pool, a source told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

Ramos is embarking on a comeback after missing almost two full seasons due to injury. On Tuesday, he tweeted a video of himself throwing to hitters.

Ramos last pitched in 2018, when he posted a 6.41 ERA in 28 appearances for the New York Mets. In June 2018, his career was halted due to a torn labrum in his shoulder that required surgery.

At his peak, the 33-year-old right-hander was one of the best closers in baseball with the Miami Marlins. From 2014-16 Ramos posted a 2.41 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and averaged 10.6 strikeouts per nine innings while compiling 72 saves. His best season was in 2016, when he made his lone All-Star Game appearance and saved 40 games for Miami.

Once Ramos joins the Dodgers, he'll be the 52nd member of their eligible player pool, according to Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times.
