Serving up a home run to one player in five consecutive at-bats during a single season prompted Cincinnati Reds right-hander Trevor Bauer to analyze just what happened.
Bauer, then a member of the Cleveland Indians, is now the answer to a trivia question after allowing Minnesota Twins outfielder Max Kepler to become the first player in the expansion era to accomplish the feat. Kepler did it across two games in June and July 2019.
"One of the crazier events that I've ever been involved in on a big-league field," Bauer said, according to Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com. "One of the crazier events, I think, that has ever happened in MLB history. ... Anytime you can be part of one of those crazy stats, which, in 100 years of baseball, has not happened much, is kind of a cool thing, looking back on it."
