Brewers, Peralta agree to 5-year extension

The Milwaukee Brewers agreed to a five-year extension with right-hander Freddy Peralta, the team announced Friday.
While financial details were not disclosed, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported earlier this week that the deal is worth $15.5 million and includes two options that could bring the total value to $30 million.
The 23-year-old Peralta would have become arbitration-eligible in 2022, but the extension buys out those years.
In 39 games - eight starts - for Milwaukee last season, Peralta went 7-3 with a 5.29 ERA, a 1.46 WHIP, and 115 strikeouts across 85 innings.
The deal is similar to one the Chicago White Sox gave left-handed reliever Aaron Bummer last week.
