The Chicago Cubs and right-hander Jeremy Jeffress agreed to a one-year, $850,000 contract, sources told Jeff Passan of ESPN.
Jeffress can earn an extra $200,000 through incentives based on games played.
The 32-year-old reliever is coming off a down season in which he posted a 5.02 ERA over 48 appearances with the Milwaukee Brewers before he was released in September.
However, Jeffress was an All-Star in 2018 when he was part of a dominant Brewers bullpen. He recorded 15 saves with a 1.29 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and 89 strikeouts in 76 2/3 innings two seasons ago.
Jeffress joins Ryan Tepera as new additions to the Cubs' bullpen in what has been a relatively quiet offseason for the North Siders.
