Kershaw: Maybe the Astros have no remorse but 'it'd be good' to hear it

Clayton Kershaw just wants some contrition from the Houston Astros - even if they don't mean it.

While the three-time Cy Young winner and former MVP said he's "just gonna move on," Kershaw couldn't resist bringing up the fact that the Astros' players have yet to show any remorse for stealing signs in 2017, and potentially costing the Los Angeles Dodgers a World Series title.

"It is a little bit interesting that the Astros' players haven't said sorry or meant it or anything like that," Kershaw told Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times on Monday. "Just not a whole lot of remorse yet, which they did win a World Series and they're not taking it back, so I don't know. Maybe there isn't. But it would be good to hear from some of those guys and just what they have to say about it and maybe mean it a little bit. It'd be good."

On Jan. 13, the commissioner's office published a nine-page report which concluded that the Astros were guilty of stealing signs throughout the 2017 season and halfway through the 2018 campaign. The resultant penalties included the suspensions of manager AJ Hinch and GM Jeff Luhnow, the forfeiture of draft picks, and a $5-million fine. However, the report did not name any active players and no current player on the team's roster has issued an apology.

Dallas Keuchel - now with the Chicago White Sox - is the only member of the 2017 Astros to apologize for the team's sign-stealing scandal so far.

Kershaw, long maligned for his inability to perform in the postseason, helped his club take Game 1 of the World Series at home against Houston, firing seven dominant frames while striking out 11. When the series moved to Minute Maid Park, the eight-time All-Star got shelled, surrendering six runs over 4 2/3 innings in Game 5. Entering in relief at Dodger Stadium for Game 7, Kershaw bounced back, hurling four shutout innings, but the Astros ultimately won the game and the championship.
