Adam Jones may be on the verge of crossing the Pacific.

The veteran free-agent outfielder is in talks with the Orix Buffaloes of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball about a multi-year contract, sources told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

Jones is apparently still weighing his options and hasn't committed to leaving MLB yet. If he decides to join the Buffaloes, a deal could be announced this week, according to Rosenthal.

The 34-year-old Jones was a first-time free agent last offseason and wasn't able to secure a contract until March when he inked a one-year, $3-million deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Upon signing, he publicly expressed frustration with the slow free-agent market and the lack of veteran players being signed.

Jones has spent 11 of his 14 major-league campaigns with the Baltimore Orioles, where he became a fan favorite as part of their most recent playoff teams. He's posted a career .277/.317/.454 slash line with 1,939 hits, 282 home runs, 945 RBIs, and 97 stolen bases, while also earning five All-Star appearances and winning four Gold Gloves in center field.

Last year, Jones slashed .260/.313/.414 with 16 homers and 67 RBIs over 137 games with the D-Backs.
