Xavier Edwards, a shortstop prospect acquired alongside Hunter Renfroe in a five-player blockbuster that sent Tommy Pham to the San Diego Padres, said Snell reached out to him Friday once the trade became official, according to Juan Toribio of MLB.com.
Snell referred to Edwards as a "slapdick prospect," when he first learned of the trade while playing video games online.
Snell told Edwards that he didn't mean any disrespect, and the farmhand will take the former Cy Young winner at his word.
The 20-year-old Edwards is ranked No. 74 among all prospects, according to MLB Pipeline. Last year, the former 38th overall pick reached High-A, where he hit .301/.349/.367 with 14 stolen bases over 46 games.
