The Tampa Bay Rays have designated former All-Star first baseman Jesus Aguilar for assignment following a trade with the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday, according to MLB.com's Juan Toribio.

In the trade with Cincinnati, the Rays acquired outfielder Brian O'Grady in exchange for cash and a player to be named later, the Reds announced.

Aguilar had a down year in 2019, hitting a combined 12 homers and driving in 50 runs for the Milwaukee Brewers and Rays. The Brewers traded Aguilar to the Rays for Jake Faria in July.

In 2018, Aguilar earned National League MVP consideration after he belted a career-high 35 home runs along with 108 RBIs, including a .890 OPS.

O'Grady debuted in the majors last season. In 28 games for the Reds, the 27-year-old hit .190/.292/.429 with two home runs, two doubles, and a triple while striking out 17 times in 48 plate appearances.

He performed well in the minors, slashing .280/.359/.550 with 28 homers, 30 doubles, and 77 RBIs in 112 games for Triple-A Louisville.
