Changes are coming to Major League Baseball's injured list, as position players will still be placed on the 10-day list next season, but pitchers will have a 15-day IL, sources told Jon Heyman of MLB Network.

The change was announced in March, though the league didn't then address what would happen to position players who were placed on the IL.

Pitchers will have to spend a minimum of 15 days on the IL to prevent teams from manipulating rosters. The use of a 10-day stint from 2017 to 2019 allowed starters to miss just one turn in the rotation.

Roster sizes will also experience a change, as teams will have 26 spots from Opening Day to the end of August and 28 from September until the regular season concludes. The league is also implementing a three-batter minimum - or to the end of a half-inning - for pitchers.
