Jose Abreu will be staying with the Chicago White Sox for 2020 after accepting the one-year, $17.8-million qualifying offer tendered to him, the team announced Thursday.

Abreu joins Minnesota Twins right-hander Jake Odorizzi as the only players to accept their qualifying offers this winter.

Despite the qualifying offer getting accepted, the White Sox and Abreu plan to continue working toward a two- or three-year contract, according to Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY Sports.

The three-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger led the American League with 123 RBIs last season while also hitting .284/.330/.503 with 33 home runs and 38 doubles.

Abreu is set to enter his age-33 season next year.
