Would CC consider returning as a reliever in 2020? 'Hell no'

New York Yankees left-hander CC Sabathia isn't mincing words about his impending retirement.

Asked Sunday if he'd consider changing his tune in order to come back to the Yankees exclusively as a reliever, the 19-year veteran was quick to shut it down.

"Come back to play? Helllllllllllllllllll no," Sabathia said, according to Lindsey Adler of The Athletic.

After announcing his impending retirement last November, the six-time All-Star has remained steadfast in his commitment to end his career at the conclusion of the 2019 campaign.

The lefty's final season hasn't always been easy. He's made multiple trips to the injured list this year thanks to a recurring knee injury.

Sabathia has started every one of his 560 games in his career but will be used out of the bullpen in the season's final week. He'll also be used in a relief role this postseason.

Since debuting as a 20-year-old in 2001, Sabathia is 251-161 with a 3.74 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 3,091 strikeouts over 3,576 1/3 innings with the Yankees, Cleveland Indians, and Milwaukee Brewers. He won the AL Cy Young in 2007 as a member of the Indians.
