The Tampa Bay Rays have activated left-hander Blake Snell off the 10-day injured list, the club announced Tuesday.

Snell, 26, will start against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. He's been out since late July while recovering from arthroscopic surgery on his elbow.

The reigning AL Cy Young Award winner is having a poor season by his standards. Snell's accrued a 4.28 ERA in 20 starts after posting a 1.89 mark over 180 2/3 innings in 2018.

Adding Snell to the Rays' rotation could provide a boost for a team looking to fend off the Oakland Athletics and Cleveland Indians in a tight wild-card race. Tampa Bay sits 1 1/2 games ahead of Cleveland for the second spot, and the squad is just one game behind Oakland for the top spot.
