The Pittsburgh Pirates placed catcher Francisco Cervelli on the seven-day injured list with a concussion, the team announced Sunday.

Cervelli was forced to leave Saturday's game after Joc Pederson's bat broke at the handle and hit the backstop in the front of the mask.

After a brief delay, Cervelli stayed in to finish the inning, but was lifted for a pinch hitter in the bottom of the fourth. Shortly afterward, he was diagnosed with concussion-like symptoms.

The 33-year-old catcher has spent time on the seven-day concussion list in the past, including two separate stints during the 2018 season.

In 34 games this year, Cervelli owns a .193/.279/.248 slash line with one homer and one stolen base.

In a corresponding move on Sunday, the Pirates selected catcher Jacob Stallings from Triple-A.
