Blue Jays' Guerrero enters MLB record books with HR outburst vs. Giants

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s bat has finally arrived.

After a quiet first 13 MLB games that saw the Toronto Blue Jays' rookie third baseman hit .191/.283/.234 with zero home runs and one RBI, Guerrero exploded with a multi-homer game against the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday.

With the performance, Guerrero (20 years, 59 days) became the third-youngest player in league history to hit his first two career homers in the same game, according to Stats By STATS. He trails only Brian McCall (19 years, 248 days in 1962) and Manny Machado (20 years, 35 days in 2012) on that list.

The only active players who registered a multi-homer game at a younger age than Guerrero are Juan Soto, Bryce Harper, Mike Trout, and Machado, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy had nothing but high praise for Guerrero after the game.

"Well, we saw three of the hardest hit balls we've seen in a while. This kid is going to be a great player. He really is. ... I've seen his dad hit pitches like that," Bochy said, according to Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic.

Coincidentally, Guerrero accomplished the feat in Oracle Park - the same stadium where his father, Vladimir Guerrero Sr., won the 2007 Home Run Derby.

Vlad Jr., one of the most hyped prospects in MLB history, now has a .917 OPS over his last seven games.
