The New York Yankees have acquired outfielder Cameron Maybin from the Cleveland Indians for cash considerations. The Yankees then signed Maybin to a major-league contract and placed him on the 25-man roster, the team announced on Thursday.

Maybin, 32, hasn't appeared in the majors in 2019 but hit .216/.388/.275 across 14 games with Cleveland's Triple-A affiliate. He signed a minor-league deal with the Indians after being released by the San Francisco Giants in late March.

The Yankees' roster has been dismantled by injuries in the early going, with the outfield especially feeling the pain. Clint Frazier hit the injured list Wednesday with a partially torn left ankle, joining fellow outfielders Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Hicks, and Jacoby Ellsbury on the shelf. Frazier's injury left Brett Gardner, Tyler Wade, and Mike Tauchman manning New York's three outfield spots.

Over parts of 12 seasons with seven teams, Maybin owns a .254/.322/.368 slash line with 60 home runs and 174 stolen bases in 1,039 games.

Maybin himself took notice of the news on Twitter:
