Toronto Blue Jays infield prospect Bo Bichette will be out of action for at least six weeks after his left hand was fractured by a hit-by-pitch on Monday, manager Charlie Montoyo told TSN's Scott Mitchell on Wednesday.

The Blue Jays are still collecting information about a potential return date for the prized prospect, Montoyo added.

Bichette, listed as the No. 10 prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline, was hitting .250/.310/.404 for Triple-A Buffalo but was in the midst of a 10-game on-base streak before the injury. During the streak, Bichette collected 11 hits and seven RBIs.

The 21-year-old son of former big leaguer Dante Bichette played well for the Blue Jays in spring training, hitting .410/.465/.795 with four home runs and 16 hits in 20 games.
