The New York Yankees activated All-Star catcher Gary Sanchez from the 10-day injured list, the team announced Wednesday.

Additionally, the Yankees optioned right-handed reliever Chad Green and catcher Kyle Higashioka to Triple-A and recalled left-hander Stephen Tarpley.

Sanchez had been sidelined since April 12 with a left calf strain, and hasn't played in a game behind the plate since April 8, as he was dealing with leg tightness prior to his stint on the IL.

He'd been one of the Yankees's most productive hitters before hitting the shelf, slashing .268/.333/.732 with six home runs and 11 RBIs. Only first baseman Luke Voit has hit more long balls for the Bronx Bombers in the early going.

Sanchez's activation is a step toward normalcy for a wounded Yankees roster. Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Judge, Luis Severino, Dellin Betances, and Miguel Andujar are among the key contributors currently sidelined with injuries.

Green, a 27-year-old reliever, was demoted after a brutal start to his season. Across 10 appearances, the righty posted a 16.43 ERA and a 2.48 WHIP while allowing four home runs in 7 2/3 innings. However, he's been a fixture in the stingy Yankees bullpen since 2016, posting a 2.79 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP with an 11.8 K/9 ratio over 190 1/3 innings in the last three seasons.

He insisted that he's healthy while attributing his recent struggles to mechanics, according to Joel Sherman of The New York Post.
