New York Mets manager Mickey Callaway won't be fired on Saturday or Sunday as the team isn't prepared to make a change during its road trip, a source told Matt Ehalt of Yahoo Sports.

The struggling Mets - losers of four straight - return home Monday to face the Washington Nationals.

Callaway doesn't appear to be worried about his job, even as his team struggles to meet expectations and now faces a potential sweep by the league-worst Miami Marlins after an ugly one-hit performance in Saturday's loss.

“I don't think anything is a must-win until Game 7 of the World Series," Callaway said when asked if Sunday's game was a must-win, according to Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News.

New York (20-24) sits 5 1/2 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies for first in the NL East. Its current losing skid has come against two divisional rivals in the Marlins and Nationals, teams that both trail the Mets in the standings.

"I'm coming in tomorrow to manage the New York Mets, and I'm going to be enthusiastic about it and I'm going to continue to lead this team to something special," Callaway said when asked about his job security, according to Tim Healey of Newsday.

Mets third baseman Todd Frazier backed Callaway following Saturday's game, calling him a "great manager."

"It's on us. We're not doing it for him," Frazier told Jon Heyman of MLB Network. "He's making the right choices. We're just not producing."

Callaway reportedly met with Mets COO Jeff Wilpon and general manager Brodie Van Wagenen on May 10 to discuss the team's performance. At that point, the club's preference was to avoid a midseason managerial change, according to reports.

Expectations in Queens were high entering the season after the team traded for eight-time All-Star Robinson Cano and 2018 MLB saves leader Edwin Diaz. The Mets also added catcher Wilson Ramos and infielder Jed Lowrie in free agency, as well as relievers Jeurys Familia and Justin Wilson.
