Report: Kimbrel seeking 'fair' deal similar to Britton, Davis
Free-agent closer Craig Kimbrel is seeking a contract within the range of what fellow All-Star relievers Wade Davis and Zack Britton recently signed for, sources told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
Davis, a three-time All-Star, agreed to a three-year, $52-million contract with the Colorado Rockies prior to the 2018 campaign, and Britton inked a three-year, $39-million deal with the New York Yankees this past winter.
Kimbrel believes that asking for such a commitment is "fair," according to Rosenthal.
A separate report from The Athletic's Jim Bowden suggested that Kimbrel was still seeking a five-year, $100-million contract in March.
Kimbrel, who most recently pitched for the Boston Red Sox, was reportedly in contact with the Milwaukee Brewers before Opening Day and has also been linked to the Atlanta Braves in recent weeks.
