Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout is sitting out his team's series at Wrigley Field due to a groin injury, but the Chicago Cubs are still thinking about the superstar this weekend.

Cubs manager Joe Maddon shared his appreciation Friday for the two-time American League MVP, going so far as to suggest Major League Baseball should redesign its logo to feature Trout's image.

"Jerry West is the emblem for the NBA," Maddon said, according to Bruce Miles of the Daily Herald. "They should start using (Trout) for MLB. I think he's that good.

"I've done this for a couple years now. I've seen some guys who are just a cut above, and he is. Barry Bonds was the same way. Ken Griffey Jr. There's others. But Trout, his whole game is different. He's a game-changer on so many different levels. Beyond that, he's one of the nicest guys you've ever met in your life. He could be like the Jerry West symbol of MLB."

The league's Twitter account responded to Maddon's suggestion with a challenge for fans:

MLB's iconic logo, featuring the silhouette of a batter, has been used since 1969. Although a popular story contends it resembles Hall of Fame slugger Harmon Killebrew, the logo's designer, Jerry Dior, debunked that theory in a 2008 interview with ESPN's Paul Lukas.
