The Toronto Blue Jays have officially assigned Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to minor-league camp, according to a statement obtained by Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun.

Guerrero, the league's top prospect according to MLB Pipeline, suffered a left oblique injury March 8 and was given a recovery timetable of three weeks.

The 19-year-old was posting a .211/.250/.316 slash line with two doubles over 19 at-bats this spring prior to his injury. Although his spring numbers were underwhelming, the phenom is coming off a season in which he progressed through four different minor-league levels, collectively authoring a 1.073 OPS with 20 homers and 29 doubles over 95 games.

The move is mostly procedural, as Vlad Jr. was not going to return from injury in time for any additional spring games.
