The Texas Rangers have signed free-agent reliever Shawn Kelley to a one-year contract with a club option for 2020, the team announced on Tuesday.

Kelley will reportedly earn $2.75 million in 2019, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan on Monday.

The deal will pay him a base salary of $2.5 million this season and also contains a $2.5-million club option for 2020 that can be bought out for $250,000, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. Performance bonuses can also push his salary into the $3-million range.

The 34-year-old split last season between the Washington Nationals and Oakland Athletics, posting a combined 2.94 ERA and 0.90 WHIP with 50 strikeouts and 11 walks over 49 innings.

Over 10 major-league seasons with five teams, Kelley owns a 3.67 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 478 strikeouts, and 15 saves across 443 appearances, all of them coming as a reliever.

To create room for Kelley on the 40-man roster, Texas designated outfielder John Andreoli for assignment, the team announced.
