A pair of third basemen were the recipients of the Platinum Glove awards on Friday, as Nolan Arenado of the Colorado Rockies and Matt Chapman of the Oakland Athletics were honored in New York City.

The Platinum Glove is awarded to the best defensive player in each respective league.

Arenado, who earned his sixth straight Gold Glove earlier this week, led all National League third basemen in defensive rating (8.1), according to Fangraphs.

Playing in his sophomore campaign, the 25-year-old Chapman earned his first Gold Glove and led MLB in multiple defensive categories among third basemen, including defensive rating (13.1), UZR (10.9), and UZR/150 (9.4).

The Platinum Glove is determined by a formula that combines a fan vote and the Society of Baseball Research's (SABR) defensive index.
