Despite not hitting a home run in his lone at-bat on Wednesday, Ronald Acuna Jr.'s five-game dinger streak will stay active.

The Atlanta Braves outfielder was notably beaned on the first pitch of his at-bat against Miami Marlins starter Jose Urena. Acuna stayed in to run the bases but was replaced defensively in the following inning.

Acuna's hit-by-pitch qualifies as a plate appearance and not an official at-bat, according to Major League Baseball's rules. Therefore, the rookie will be eligible to continue his historic streak whenever he is available to play next.

Per MLB rules, consecutive-game hitting streaks remain active as long as the batter does not record an official at-bat. However, exceptions are made for balls in play, such as a sacrifice or fielder's choice.
