The New York Yankees will be without Aaron Judge longer than they had hoped.

Speaking to WFAN 660 about the status of his ailing right fielder, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman revealed Judge has received a cortisone shot for pain relief in his fractured wrist, and the three-week recovery timeline the club was optimistic about is no longer accurate.

Judge has been out of action since July 26, when he took a Jakob Junis pitch off his right wrist versus the Kansas City Royals. On Aug. 5, the 26-year-old said he was still unable to swing a bat.

In 99 games of his sophomore season, Judge has batted .285/.398/.548 with 26 home runs and 61 RBIs while accruing 5.2 WAR. The Yankees opted against acquiring outfield help in Judge's absence.

Entering Wednesday, the club holds a 3.5-game lead over the Oakland Athletics for the first AL wild-card spot.
