Altuve's on fire: Reigning MVP collected hits in Astros record 10 straight ABs
While most of the early American League MVP talk has surrounded Mike Trout and Mookie Betts, Jose Altuve is making sure he's not forgotten.
The Houston Astros second baseman and reigning league MVP collected hits in 10 straight at-bats to set a club record before he was robbed of an 11th by a diving catch by Cleveland Indians outfielder Rajai Davis in the ninth inning Sunday.
"You don't think about hits, you're not counting hits, you're trying to win games," Altuve said, according to Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle. "Then, I guess, after two games people and my teammates are saying 'You have 10 hits.' And I'm like 'OK, that's fun.'"
Altuve entered Friday's game hitting .306 and now sits at .332 following his incredible run.
