The San Diego Padres' reported interest in free-agent first baseman Eric Hosmer appears to be legit.

Hosmer met with members of the team Thursday, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

Agent Scott Boras, Padres manager Andy Green, and GM A.J. Preller all attended the meeting, reports Nightengale.

The Padres have been discussing the potential signing of the 28-year-old since mid-November and have reportedly had conversations with current first baseman Wil Myers about moving him to the outfield to accommodate Hosmer.

Hosmer is one of the most sought-after free agents after posting a career-high OPS of .882, along with 25 home runs, 31 doubles, and 94 RBIs.

The four-time Gold Glove winner and one-time All-Star won the World Series with the Kansas City Royals in 2015.

Over the course of his seven-year career, he owns a .284/.342/.439 slash line with 127 home runs and 566 RBIs.

San Diego is also a finalist for another premium free agent in Shohei Ohtani, who's expected to make his decision on where he'll play before Dec. 22.
