Dombrowski 'not looking to revamp' Red Sox with high-profile addition

It's early in the offseason, but the Boston Red Sox have already been tied to Giancarlo Stanton and Eric Hosmer, among others. President of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski wanted to curb those expectations Wednesday.

"I do read those names," Dombrowski told Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe at the general manager meetings in Orlando, Fla. "I think you have to be a little carried away that that's not for sure the direction that you're going.

"There are quite a few players capable of helping us with what we need to do. Maybe they're not as high profile as other names. I do think we have to remember that we still won 93 games. So, when you're in that position, we're not looking to revamp our ballclub. We're looking to make that addition."

During their time at the GM meetings, the Red Sox met with representatives for Lucas Duda and Logan Morrison, according to Abraham.

While the Red Sox are believed to be interested in acquiring Stanton, the Miami Marlins superstar slugger is drawing the most intense interest from the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals.

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old Hosmer is expected to entertain nine-figure offers as a free agent, and is coming off a season where he slashed .318/.385/.498 over 162 games.
