Marlins' Ramos invites Dodgers to see him 'whenever' after plunking Eibner

Kelvin Kuo / USA TODAY Sports

AJ Ramos wants to resolve matters with the Los Angeles Dodgers as quickly as possible.

The Miami Marlins closer unknowingly lit a fuse between both sides in Friday's encounter when he struck outfielder Brett Eibner with a 95.5-mph fastball immediately following Cody Bellinger's eighth-inning home run. That prompted Dodgers reliever Ross Stripling to retaliate in the next frame, throwing a pitch behind slugger Giancarlo Stanton that emptied both benches and earned Stripling - as well as Marlins skipper Don Mattingly and Dodgers bench coach Bob Geren - an ejection.

So Ramos, true to his role in wrapping up unfinished business, invited the Dodgers to address him at any hour of the day with any outstanding issues resulting from his pitch to Eibner.

"I was out there in the middle of that," Ramos told the Miami Herald's Clark Spencer. "No one said anything to me. If they had such a problem with it, they could have come at me right there. I was right in the middle of it. So, if they've got a problem with it, they can see me before the game, after the game, whenever they want to see me.

"It doesn't have to be at the game. If they still have a problem with it, it's their fault."

The Dodgers would hold on for the 7-2 win after the dust settled, though there are still two games left to play in the current four-game stand.
