Tebow's airmailed warmup throw hit a fan in the family jewels
Never take your eye off of Tim Tebow.
The popular New York Mets minor-leaguer has boosted the Single-A Columbia Fireflies' attendance by over 30 percent this season, though maybe having more fans in the stands as he gets loose isn't a good thing.
Tebow overthrew his teammate during warmups Tuesday and plunked a 45-year-old man in the stands in the family jewels, according to the New York Post's Kirsten Fleming.
"I hear this guy behind me yell, 'Watch out,'" said Doug Brustman, the unlucky victim. "And as he's yelling, the ball comes right through the railing and hits me right in the nuts. It was a direct hit. ...
"It was literally like a Seinfeld episode. The guy behind me shouts, 'It was TEBOW.' It reminded me of his days with the (New York) Jets when he couldn't complete a pass. This guy is so inaccurate, even with a baseball."
While there was no accompanying bass line to provide comic relief, Tebow did try to make amends for the incident by signing the errant baseball, plus two of Tebow's books that Brustman's daughter brought to the game.
"He didn't have to come over. How can you hate him?" Brustman asked. "He's almost too good to be true."
Brustman then summed up the incident: "It is really funny, except that it hurts."
