Friday's Europa League draw raised the prospect of an all-Premier League semifinal between Manchester United and Wolverhampton, who are on the same side of the competition's newly formed bracket.

Though the Europa League is still stuck in the round of 16 due to the coronavirus pandemic, each remaining team learned its path to the final on Friday.

Once all last-16 fixtures are completed, the tournament will switch to a single-elimination format, with games from the quarterfinal stage onward taking place in Germany from Aug. 10-21.

The final will be played in Cologne on Aug. 21.

Having won 5-0 away to Austrian outfit LASK in the first leg of their last-16 tie, United are expected to advance without issue. However, Wolves are tied 1-1 with Olympiacos after the first 90 minutes of play.

Second-leg fixtures will be played at home teams' stadiums on Aug. 5 and 6.

In order to meet in the semifinals, United would have to beat one of Copenhagen or Istanbul Basaksehir in the quarters, and assuming they get past Olympiacos, Wolves would have to overcome either Sevilla or Roma.

Three German teams remain in the Europa League, including Bayer Leverkusen, who hold a 3-1 aggregate advantage over Rangers. The winner of that matchup will face Inter Milan or Getafe in the quarterfinals.

FC Basel are ahead 3-0 on aggregate against Eintracht Frankfurt, and Shakhtar Donetsk are leading Wolfsburg 2-1. The winner of those ties will meet each other in the quarters.

As they were unable to begin play in the round of 16, Inter and Getafe and Sevilla and Roma will play single-elimination matches in Germany on Aug. 5 and 6 to determine who advances.
