Quique Setien is leaving Real Betis on a high.
In the wake of Sunday's 2-0 win at Real Madrid, the veteran tactician and Betis announced their joint decision to go separate ways.
The victory at the Santiago Bernabeu meant the Andalusian club finished 10th in La Liga and was the only team to win at the homes of both Real Madrid and Barcelona in the 2018-19 season.
Although Setien's adventurous approach garnered a hipster following across the continent, a midtable finish is ultimately disappointing for an outfit boasting players like Giovani Lo Celso, William Carvalho, and Marc Bartra. Los Verdiblancos conceded one goal fewer than relegated Girona this term.
Real Betis are due to play a friendly at D.C. United on Wednesday.
