Report: United may reconsider Sanchez's Inter loan after Martial injury

The results of Anthony Martial's scan on a thigh issue suffered in Saturday's defeat to Crystal Palace could determine whether Alexis Sanchez moves to Inter or not, according to The Guardian's Jamie Jackson.

The Italian club was reportedly confident of striking a loan deal for the Manchester United outcast over a week ago, although Inter's refusal to cover the majority of Sanchez's £390,000 per week salary was apparently delaying the switch.

Now, an unforeseen hitch in negotiations appears to be Martial's injury. The French forward was seen limping after the surprise 2-1 loss to the Eagles at Old Trafford, potentially leaving only Marcus Rashford and 17-year-old Mason Greenwood as the Red Devils' primary striking options should Sanchez leave.

United were due to continue discussions with Inter regarding Sanchez's loan on Monday, but may be more reluctant to shake hands on a deal until they know more about the extent of Martial's setback. The earlier and still withstanding problem in negotiations, Jackson says, is down to Inter offering to pay around €3 million of Sanchez's €20-million-a-year income. United want the Nerazzurri to cover closer to €6 million.
