Report: Conte agrees to become Inter boss

Antonio Conte has reportedly chosen Inter as his next destination.

The former Juventus manager agreed to terms on a multi-year contract with the Nerazzurri, according to the Guardian's Fabrizio Romano, ending months of speculation over his future.

Conte, who was fired by Chelsea in July 2018, would be replacing Luciano Spalletti on Inter's bench.

Several clubs began to woo the 48-year-old Conte as the 2018-19 campaign drew to a close, with Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, AC Milan, and Juventus all reportedly interested.

In the end, Conte apparently settled on Inter, where he'll find former Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta in a similar role. Marotta appointed Conte as Juventus manager back in 2011, sparking a run of unprecedented success for the Bianconeri.

Crosstown rivals Milan were strongly linked to Conte, but complications regarding Financial Fair Play seemed to scupper their recruitment attempt.

Inter, on the other hand, were cleared of any financial irregularities and were released from their settlement agreement with UEFA.

Conte won three Scudetti with Juventus before taking over the Italy national team in 2014. He led the Azzurri to an impressive quarterfinal finish at the 2016 European Championship and returned to club management with Chelsea immediately after.

His first season in London was a success. While popularizing the back-three, Conte steered the Blues to their fifth Premier League title in 2017 and added an FA Cup to his cabinet the following year.

However, Conte battled Chelsea over several transfer targets and eventually lost his job. A legal battle ensued regarding approximately £9 million in compensation, according to Sky Sports.
