Paris Saint-Germain locked up their number one goalkeeper on Wednesday, signing Salvatore Sirigu to contract extension that will keep him in the fold until 2018.

"I wanted to continue this incredible adventure, both on a sporting and on a human level, with Paris Saint-Germain," said the 27-year-old in an official club statement. "I know we are only at the start of something exceptional. We are going to win a lot of titles together!"

The Italian international joined the French giants in 2011, making 112 appearances. He was a member of the squad that win the Ligue 1 in 2012-13 and 2013-14 and was named goalkeeper of the year in both of those seasons.

"We are very proud to extend the contract of Salvatore, an exceptional goalkeeper and a remarkable human being. He is a symbol of the Paris Saint-Germain project: to build one of the most successful clubs in Europe", said Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, PSG's president.
