Thierry Henry will no longer be dissecting Premier League tactics and interviewing some of the biggest names in the game after he decided to step away from his role as a Sky Sports pundit.

The Arsenal legend revealed his decision in a series of tweets which spoke of his want to "spend more time on the pitch" and therefore fulfil his ambition of becoming a manager.

"I would like to thank everyone at Sky for making me feel so welcome and at ease throughout my time with them and I wish them all the best for the future. Great memories," he concluded.

Henry assisted Roberto Martinez and Graeme Jones with Belgium at the World Cup this summer. The Red Devils completed a best-ever third-place finish at the tournament, and Henry received much credit for their attacking potency spearheaded by Romelu Lukaku, Eden Hazard, and Kevin De Bruyne.

The Frenchman admitted in February that it would be a "dream" to one day oversee Arsenal, the club for which he is the all-time leading scorer with 228 goals. In July 2016, Henry was reportedly offered a job coaching the Gunners' Under-18s, but that decision was apparently overruled by the retired forward's former boss Arsene Wenger.
