Ibrahimovic ruled out of Sweden's Euro campaign due to knee injury
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has told Sweden head coach Janne Anderson that he will be unable to participate in this summer's European Championship while he undergoes treatment on a knee injury.
The striker suffered the ailment during AC Milan's 3-0 win over Juventus on May 9.
Ibrahimovic retired from international football in 2016 but returned in March, voicing his ambition to notch his first World Cup goal in Qatar in 2022. He will be 41 when that tournament kicks off.
Ibrahimovic is the Sweden men's national team's all-time top scorer with 62 goals.
The much-traveled attacker will sit out the final two matches of Milan's Serie A campaign due to his injury. The Rossoneri are in third place and therefore on course to qualify for next season's Champions League. Ibrahimovic is the club's top scorer with 15 league strikes.
Sweden will lean on the likes of Real Sociedad's Alexander Isak and Krasnodar's Marcus Berg for firepower in Ibrahimovic's absence.
