Real Madrid have relinquished the top spot in La Liga to their bitter rivals.

Los Blancos' stunning 1-0 loss to Mallorca on Saturday leaves Zinedine Zidane and Co. one point back of Barcelona at the league summit after the Blaugrana eased to victory over Eibar earlier in the day.

It's the first league defeat of the campaign for Zidane's side, which finished the contest with 10 men after Alvaro Odriozola was sent off in the 74th minute.

Mallorca, who came into the contest mired in the relegation zone, went ahead with their lone shot on target, as Ivorian attacker Lago Junior found the net in the seventh minute.

Despite having over 80 minutes to try to claw their way back into the contest, Real Madrid could only muster four shots on target.

"Above all our start to the game was very bad," Zidane told reporters after the match, according to Dermot Corrigan of Covering Futbol. "But in second half we did not create many clear chances, we lacked a bit of everything today."
