Cesc Fabregas' career at Chelsea is officially over as it was announced Friday that the Spaniard has completed a move to Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco.

Fabregas was given a warm sendoff by Blues fans in the FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest last weekend after amassing four-and-a-half years, 198 games, 22 goals, and four trophies in west London.

He has now completed a medical and signed a three-and-a-half-year contract in the French principality. At Monaco, Fabregas will play under former Arsenal teammate Thierry Henry, who will expect the 31-year-old to be a leading figure for his young side.

It's quite the coup for Henry and shows the vast network of contacts the legendary striker has brought to his first senior managerial role. Fabregas' arrival follows that of another experienced player, Schalke's 36-year-old Brazilian center-back Naldo, who joined the club on Jan. 3 on an 18-month deal. The elder pair has added vital nous to Monaco's relative kindergarten of a squad.

Fabregas will likely be available for Monaco's trip to face Marseille in Ligue 1 action on Sunday.
