Everton struck an agreement with Watford on Friday to end a year of infighting between the two Premier League sides over manager Marco Silva.

The Toffees agreed to pay £4 million in compensation to settle the dispute, according to The Telegraph's Jason Burt.

Watford accused Everton of tapping up Silva while he was in charge of the Hornets in November 2017 and cited Everton's "unwarranted approach" as the main reason for his eventual firing in January 2018.

The Merseyside outfit ended up appointing Sam Allardyce for the remainder of the 2017-18 season. Everton hired Silva the following summer.

The Premier League apparently ordered an investigation into the allegations in September, but the agreement has now negated plans for an independent review.

Everton reportedly faced a potential points deduction if they were found guilty.
