Jurgen Klopp confirmed Friday that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain suffered a "serious hamstring injury" during Liverpool's 2-0 friendly win over Crystal Palace on June 15.

The Liverpool manager also revealed that Caoimhin Kelleher will miss a further two-to-three weeks with an injury he picked up on international duty in June. The Irishman's absence, along with Alisson's abdominal problem, means third-choice goalkeeper Adrian is set to start Saturday's Community Shield meeting with Manchester City.

However, Oxlade-Chamberlain's layoff is the most concerning of the two injuries. "It will take longer," Klopp offered when comparing the midfielder's time on the sidelines to Kelleher's issue.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, 28, has missed 78 matches through injury since joining Liverpool from Arsenal for a reported £40-million fee in 2017, according to figures from Transfermarkt. He has a year left on his contract at Anfield.

"It's really disappointing for us because he has been training really well for us since we started," Klopp said after Liverpool's match against Crystal Palace in Singapore.
